The Real and The Reel About Noy Noy Aquino

This massive headache is killing me. I am still at a loss as to why Filipinos would vote for Noy Noy Aquino as President. Here are some random thoughts:

(a) What has Noy Noy done that directly benefited the Filipino people?
(b) Why did Noy Noy not create any laws as Senator?
(c) What projects or activities has he accomplished that would make me believe that he helped in implementing existing laws?
(d) By what then can I gauge Noy Noy's competence as a leader?

Problems
Most evident in my observations is that Noy Noy, to this day, HAS NO CLEAR CUT PLATFORM. His battlecry remains, "Hindi Ako Magnanakaw." If the President has: (1) no clear-cut platform (2) no quantitative objectives and (3) no realistic strategies in order for such objectives to materialize, what then will the President do when elected into office? Play PSP? Also, how will the people assess if the President has done his job, and if he has done it well? The irony is, in the Philippines, the more accomplishments you have, the higher chances you will be put in a bad light. This is where Manny Villar is in a disadvantage. Because he has accomplished so much as Businessman, Congressman, and Senator, there are so many avenues to critique his performance. Whereas Noy Noy Aquino, although as a supposed public servant he has not done anything, Filipinos still think he is "good." A good what? If a good leader or politician, what of his actions made you conclude so?

The Real
Here is what's real in space and time:

(1) Noy Noy's resume reads: 0 laws passed. 0 laws implemented. 0 bills implemented.
(2) Noy Noy's platform is, "Hindi Ako Magnanakaw." This platform is qualitative. This platform leaves the public GUESSING whether the statement is true or false. It entraps the public to gamble their vote without having any tangible instrument to later know whether they made a wise or stupid decision. The platform is not quantitative.
(3) There is a psychiatric document floating around the nation claiming that Noy Noy Aquino is mentally and emotionally impaired.
(4) Noy Noy Aquino refuses to face the challenge of his rivals to take a psychiatric exam.
(5) It has long been rumored that Noy Noy Aquino is autistic.

Why do Filipinos want to vote for Noy Noy Aquino? Someone give me an aspirin.

  2. Hi ladyess_sweet143. Thank you for your comment. Yes I agree that we should not judge one another, but the blog is asking what of Senator Noy Noy's actions or activities as a public servant may be considered "good"? What do you think?

  3. we were not suppose to judge,if you are judging based on his character and personality not unless you him..but he will be running for presidency...we, the voters, are suppose to judge and have right to judge the candidates based on their experience and achievements...so we would know who is the right candidate for the presidency...

  4. .i am saying we dont have the right to judge.... .im nt refering to the right of the voters, i am refering to those words that could possibly hurt to the supporters of noynoy..
..yes you may right that we supposed to judge the right candidates,...
...but, in my sight, we are not supposed to judge not only 4 our improvement and specially 4 our country because.......... we all have the task to do..,. we dont just act that they serve as...they are not our servant.., but the truth is that we all, are servant to GOD, the almighty..were livng in this world w/ each task...
..w/ peace, courage, and most of all faith in GOD, we could have a better hope, a bettr testament,a better substance, a better country, a bettr resurrection and a better evrythng!

  5. in whom do we trust? we cant trust to anybody because no one living in this earth is righteous,.. only one is righteous, that is no other, the almighty,,,...
...what we are having and experiencing now is already part of God's wonderful plan for us....
    that is why...........
......we just walk by faith and not by sight...

  6. when the Israelites chose King Saul did they do so "righteously"? Was it an informed choice? Remember David was the rightful king ... True, only God can judge a person's heart ... but the mandate of a leader is God-given ... so we must choose wisely who we will vote for ... not judging them based on their character ... but evaluating them on their capability to lead ... if we choose the wrong leader we must bear the grunt of his/her mistakes simply because we did not choose wisely ... an informed choice is not an unrighteous choice ...

lastly, being "right with the Church" does not equate to "being right with God"

    just my two cents ...

  7. (3) The psychiatric document that is circulating around is just that. A claim.

Hahaha… Or may be you can check his website or google mo and do some research.

What projects or activities has he accomplished that would make me believe that he helped in implementing existing laws?
Eto wala din ako idea. Hehehe…

By what then can I gauge Noy Noy's competence as a leader?
Good question. I need to do more research on this one.

Noy Noy's resume reads: 0 laws passed. 0 laws implemented. 0 bills implemented.
Eto check mo.

That’s what you called SHOWBIZ! Advertisement!. All of them are doing the same thing “lure us”, just to vote them. It’s hard to say, hanggang makaupo sila sa pwesto.

There is a psychiatric document floating around the nation claiming that Noy Noy Aquino is mentally and emotionally impaired.

Noy Noy Aquino refuses to face the challenge of his rivals to take a psychiatric exam.

If I was Noynoy, bat ako susunod sa gusto ng kalaban ko? Hehehe…

It has long been rumored that Noy Noy Aquino is autistic.
So what? ALL OF THEM ARE! Pero rumor lng din yon. Hahaha!!! Si Joshua “anak ni Kris” It makes me wonder! Hhhhmmmm……

Why do Filipinos want to vote for Noy Noy Aquino? Someone give me an aspirin.
Natawa ako dito ah. Napaisip din ako. Why does Filipinos want to vote for Erap or Villar and other presidentiables? Why oh why?

  9. In answering any multiple choice exam and you are unsure of the answer -- DO PROCESS OF ELIMINATION!

Eliminate possible wrong answers based on factual evidences and not based on rumor.

At the end of the day, you will be surprised that among the top 3 winnable candidates... you will endup choosing NoyNoy.

People just want a new leader who will do the very basic — who will not be corrupt, who will do THE LESSER EVIL.
Marami ng magagandang batas (leave the improvement to the legislative). Simple na lang ang gusto ko:
If only all the budget appropriations will be spent according to what they are meant (Education, health, justice system, environment, etc.etc.)... this is more than enough!

"Hindi ako magnanakaw" platform doesn't leave me guessing... IT DOES SAY EVERYTHING!

I'm an accountant by profession and working in a comptrollership function, by the way.

  10. To ladyess_sweet143 : Hi! Thank you very much for your comments. I believe the following concepts will help address the disagreements in this discussion:

I agree with you when you say we cannot judge a PERSON- his heart, his intentions, his personality- as either good or bad; none of us is indeed "good" if we measure ourselves against the standard of the Bible. What the blog, and the other comments, is saying though is that we CAN and SHOULD judge, assess, and vritique the WORDS and ACTIONS of Noy Noy Aquino as he is running for a crucial post that WILL AFFECT the LIVES of MILLIONS OF FILIPINOS. We are judging his actions- the activities he endeavored as a politician, the laws he authored and desired to implement, his platform- because it is through these that the voters can gague whether or not he is a competent leader and a WORTHY President.

  11. To Ana: Yes, I agree with your statement that we should use our intelligence and critique wisely each candidate as he will be responsible for the fate of the Filipino, and the Philippines as a whole.

  12. To Kiko: Hi Kiko! Thank you for y our comment. I do not quite understand though the parallelism between the Israelites and the Filipino people? First, the Israleites were and are the chosen people, therefore they ought to have been different from the rest of her neighboring countries. God had a special and unique plan for them, and that included a KING- one that the people DID NOT VOTE for but mandated by God Himself. So from there on, I do not quite understand what analogy you are trying to create between the Israelites and the Philippine Elections. You may post again to clarify though, thank you!

  13. To Flip: Hi Flip! Thank you for your comments! They actually made sense and yep, please continue to do your research so that your vote will indeed be an informed one. Do not hesitate to share your new research with me!

  14. To Rhoven: Hi Rhoven! Thank you for your comment! When I say, "Hindi Ako Magnanakaw" is a statement that leaves one guessing, I mean that the statement's TRUTH VALUE is something that cannot be immediately and quantitatively measured in the HERE AND NOW. It is something that only time and the future can tell. And sady, with the poor accountability system in our government and politics, how in the world will we even truly know if he will or will not steal from the land?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hehe, I hope you realize that all their promises are things of the future. "Whether they will steal or not within 6 years of their term" or "Iahon sa kahirapan ang mahirap" are things that we can't know now.

I beg to disagree that measurement should be quantitative. This is not numbers game anyway.
I'm saying that you should distinguish the accomplishments and a cover-ups.End of the day, the character is still one criteria that everyone is looking for.Definitely QUALITATIVE.

Don't give up.There's a way to know. Status check lagi. You may not know everything but as long as there are vigilant people, media, opposition, etc. Kahit 1% meron makikita. Mahal pa din ng Dios ang Pilipinas. That I believe deep in my heart.
VOTE FOR THE LESSER EVIL =)

  16. By the way, in your "Real" list above, 1. what do we mean by "0 bills implemented"? Can anyone really implement a bill pa lang(before its enacted to a law)?Pardon my ignorance. 2. "0 laws implemented"-trabaho ba ng legislative ang implementation or ng executive? Ang dating tuloy sakin, gusto lang natin dagdagan ng maraming zeroes ang stats niya hehe.
    ----
    FROM WIKIPEDIA
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo - As a legislator, Arroyo filed over 400 bills and authored or sponsored 55 laws during her tenure as senator

Ferdinand Marcos - As a Senator, congressman for 3 terms, Minority Floor Leader before gaining the Senate Presidency. He is one of the legislators who had established a record for having introduced a number of significant bills, many of which found their way into the Republic statute books.(siguro di mabilang sa dami)
    ----
So next time anyone use the # of bills passed etc.etc. stats comparison again, try to line up graft and corruption facts too para mas magandang basahin =)
